Our Principal Student Leaders are voted for by their peers and are given the opportunity and responsibility on leading on self-directed projects within the school as well as being important ambassadors for Maritime in the community.
Through Student Leadership roles, students are able to build a portfolio of evidence to contribute towards core leadership skills. The circle map below demonstrates the skills needed, with the Frame Of Reference (FOR) demonstrating how students at Maritime Academy might demonstrate these.
We know that moving to secondary school can be both an exciting and anxious time for our young people, especially for those children who are perhaps the only child from their primary school moving to Maritime.
Therefore we have recruited some Student Ambassadors for Maritime to help answer any questions that our students might have and to ensure they have a friendly face and name to support their move to secondary school.
Their role in the school is to be a good friend. They are here to answer questions and ensure that our students feel comfortable and confident when transitioning to the Academy when they begin their Voyage with us in September and beyond. Each member of the Student Ambassador team applied for the role, was interviewed and appointed, so we are confident that these students are the right young people to offer care, advice and support to all Maritime students.
